persephone
My silly boy ..all blotches & noise What will I do now , with those fluffy toys? Who will now help me to find feral cats and lean on my knee for words and for pats? nine years is not long, for me anyway - seems a short time since watching pups play. Last night ,as usual , right there for me . pointing then flushing that cat up a tree, I thought you were ill, but you gave me your best .. Then this morning I knew that you deserved rest. 'Bye my hammy boy. I helped Hammy over the bridge this morning early . For the past day or so he just wasn't 'right' and I put it down to the normal garbage eating . Yesterday we had a good day, he played in at the river and chased bunnies ..all seemed ok .. Last night he seemed a bit uncomfortable ..but did SUCH a great job finding/pointing at and treeing a feral cat ! he was so happy :) Afterwards though couldn't settle for ages ..so I sat with him ..and eventually we went to sleep. He was very pale , and had 'that look' in his eyes ...that inward looking gaze... This morning ... he was obviously very ill ..and so so pale ..I suspect an internal bleed ..... I will miss him so much ... it will be very quiet now with no baying at every opportunity ....... Chequeredblackdog
RIP Hamlet. I will miss seeing all the beautiful (and often funny) photos of you. And as Sheridan said, I'm sure you're up there whipping all those doggies who know nothing about 'cat spotting' into shape! Hugs to you Persephone, and all your other furry friends. persephone
Thank you all ... it's much appreciated Things are very quiet and the house feels empty without that big footed vocal presence ... he who didn't believe in walking if it could be avoided ..running was better :) And almost everything he did was accompanied by barking/baying I never did sort that one out ....but it will be much missed ..
