dougal
One of my girls got a bit too excited that other day and urinated on my wool/polyester mix rug. I immediately soaked it up, blotted, and put clean water over, blotting again. The smell remained, so then tried 50/50 water and white vinegar; repeating the blotting process. The stink still remains What am I doing wrong? The rug is dark purple, so at least the stain won't show, but the stench is awful.
twodoggies2001
I always use Urine Off. It's supposed to get rid of the smell as well as the stain.

jemappelle
I just went to ebay and had a look - I mean Urine-Off. The other one, without the dash, is a new product I think.

Not sure how old the Urine Off, but I swear by it. l When my now 4.5yr. old mini schnauzer was a puppy, I used it on a wool carpet, and I'd defy anyone to point out to me where he had gone to do his business. Actually a carpet cleaner told me about this product as he uses it himself in his business.
Her Majesty Dogmad
I use a mix of Napisan and water. Leave the mixture on the stain for a few minutes then soak up with an old towel. That should work.

Her Majesty Dogmad
It is, I've never lost the colour from a rug but I can't guarantee it on other people's rugs. It certainly removes the smell for the dog, they've never gone twice on the same place. Maybe get a professional carpet cleaner, they have special solutions for these problems. ~Anne~
Another vote for Urine Off or if I've run out of that I use Bio Zet laundry powder. This. You need to break down the enzymes, not mask the smell.
