PuddleDuck
Ness I've been thinking of you a lot lately, how are things going?
ness
She is still not great but she has also been struggling much more with her BC collapse issue so it was back to the neurologist just to make sure there was nothing else going on. She has been out and about and done a few trials but to risky to do much with her. The verdict at the moment seems to be the muscle wastage she is experiencing isn't unexpected with the BC collapse condition and I just have to try and avoid as best I can anything which may trigger an episode. We have been working through some rehab exercises that I had suggested by a person in the US and maybe I might do some underwater treadmill with her (which is the other suggestion I have had) at some stage when I can find the money. Her RH patella according to the neurologist is "loose" but its not his area. Its difficult to get any logical advice because each specialist is a "specialist" and her issues seem to spread across both areas. She is having blood pulled this week to send off to the genome scan in the US on the BC collapse side of her issues. Her LH patella still bothers her quite a bit as well. ness
So things just keep going downhill. This morning on a short walk she came up 3 legged lame on her RH and was an absolute mess. She looked so miserable. I had her off-lead at her favourite park and she just lay there. This is the same dog who we normally get there and she is bouncing around wanting a game, wanting to train and telling me what for if I do nothing with her. Have had it suggested there is probably no point in considering surgery because of how she didn't do very well with her LH. My poor baby girl. She is a walking disaster and I so don't know where to turn . The comment is to rest her, give her meds and see how she does .
Cosmolo
I really, really feel for you Ness. We have one of ours on 3 legs at the moment, having surgery on Monday which may or may not work so really sympathise. It's so awful to see a normally active dog restricted by their physical condition and even mroe frustrating when the path to fixing it is not clear cut if it exists at all. Zug Zug
So sorry to hear this Ness. No advice, but I assume some of your distress is the thought that there may not be a solution for her, and that must be such a painful thing to consider for a dog so young. Can only hope you are able to find a way through this that allows her a good quality of life and happiness.

ness
So the verdict is back on max dosage pain meds, crate rest and hope things settle. Not sure what the outcome will be if they don't. She was still struggling this morning when I let her out for a toilet break before leaving for the day .
BC Crazy
Oh no ness, I just posted how happy I was for you both after viewing that video clip & seeing how well Kenz was going..... Just too cruel... Get a little taste of a back to active/normal life & it's back to that darn crate rest/meds AGAIN... Ever so sorry for you both & I can't imagine how hard it must be for you both emotionally & financially. Thoughts are with you both at this once again very tough time
kiesha09
So sorry to hear this Ness. Hope she is feeling a bit better this afternoon!
ness
She is currently going free to anybody who wants her. She thinks she is raring to go after I have been at work all day so is now waiting on her afternoon/evening outing. Sorry to disappoint her. I let her out of her crate but bought her onto the bed in my room and now she is giving me the evil look. Although touch wood meds seem to have worked and she isn't looking quite the disaster she has been. I think by the end of the weekend we will both be pulling our hair out with rest. ness
She is bored but meds seem to be working in that she doesn't look lame but she isn't doing much either. Has been suggested she possibly needs a minimum of a fortnight of no activity in case its soft tissue injury .
ness
A couple of pictures of my baby girl taken today during a small break outside .
Lily123
Ness, I've followed your journey and my heart just breaks for you and Kenz. I just hope and pray that things will pick up again. You are such an amazing, dedicated owner - Kenz could not have or wish for better. Hugs.

ness
Grrrr not amused just went to pick up more pain meds to find I was billed for having blood pulled to include in the US research project which is of no benefit to me and money I could have used towards keeping my girl comfortable. ness
No didn't I guess its my own fault for not checking before it was done. At the time it was taken they didn't know whether there would be a "small" charge. But I hung around and when no invoice was forth coming they sent me on my way.
