huski
What breed is Abbey, Tara? Is it just for letting her run around the beach?

In that case I'd look at getting a 10m long line :)
mumof4girls
Watch out for lead burn :-( we tied an extra lead on as we were throwing the ball on an oval and it got round my ankle :-( ouch !! Lol.. I love long leads Esp for a Dale that gets distracted by smells !!!! Lol
GeorgieB
I have a 10m puppy nylon long line from k9 pro. I've used it at the beach and am glad I went wih 10m. I do recommend using it with a harness. I've had far fewer tangles since I got a harness for reggie :)

With a 10 m line you need to develop skill in reeling it in and unfurling it...takes a little practice.
seld
We used a lunge lead too, much easier.
zeebie
I call it my girls 'sea anchor' just 20 metre long nylon plaited/woven rope which since she has had experience with since 4 months old knows only to well how to keep out of its way as she careers across the mud flats /water etc, In beginning she was attached to other dog as an insurance policy, now her recall is great I can safely let her go, but the line is purely for emergency reel in if required. Was previously used as luggage tie down and when bungy straps and cargo nets came along rope got retrenced so now it has been recycled and I added a D clip to one end to attach to dog harness.Very cheap :)
paddles
I bought the 10 mtre ? long line from k9pro, the syntec? one. I love it, it's heavier than nylon (I won't lie) but it doesn't seem to tangle, is easy to grip, and clean. I find he knows by the weight? when he's getting near the end of it. I use mine down the bush tho, not the beach.. it is heavier than nylon or rope, but since I've had it, I haven't had rope burn, and I found when I was using rope (nylon sailing sort) I had to wear gloves and even then I'd sometimes get ropeburn.
