Chris the Rebel Wolf Posted February 3, 2013 Share Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) After hearing a lot about the breed DNA testing service Advance is now offering I decided to get Zeke done for a bit of fun. This particular one shows up to the great-grandparents, so I was interested to put it to the test. I know a few branches of his mother's family, (hence why on paper he's referred to as "Lab x Cattle dog") and I'm eager to see how it matches up! His father's input is the unknown side. Anyone else want to share their DNA testing stories? I'm aware that not everybody's experiences have come back accurate, and as stated - I got it done for fun. No Australian Anatolians were used in the test development, therefore the Advance DNA test is void for all ASD and ASD mixed breed dogs in Australia. Big sham from Advance. Animal Network (Genetic technologies) developed their Breed DNA test test from Australian dogs, therefore their test would be more likely to provide helpful input on Zeke's background. http://www.gtglabs.com/bitsa/faq.php?fid=5 Sorry CTRW Advance does not detect Kelpie. Some ask, some even ask for a photo LOL I don't state nor send a photo. I hear there is a new blood DNA test that is meant to be more accurate that the mouth swab one. Here's some photos, for anybody who wants to guess at his origins, knock yourselves out :D Definately lab probably black X with Kelpie X yellow lab At the extreme breed side lab X Kelpie x GSP but in saying that I think you would get more white on dog + spotting what is skin pigment colour and also is there any freckling on skin especially belly/chest? The tests rely on incomplete science and come with a legal disclaimer. I'm not sure why anyone would have thread test done for fun, as it costs money and most people who have had it done seem to reject the idea that their dog could contain a breed not visible in the phenotype. I said "to see how bizzare the test is". Since the tests seem to come back with weird results on dogs of unknown parentage but you can't really say your dog isn't that when you don't know.
