*kirty*
I can't copy and paste because it's a slideshow, but I was pleasantly surprised by the last slide. :D I won't ruin it for you. :) Mostly sensible information, although also some crap. http://motherandbaby.ninemsn.com.au/baby/gallery-bestdogsforbabies/159310/best-dogs-for-babies.slideshow
Guest Willow
I'm glad the Staffy got a thumbs up However, if i was the mother of the baby in the last video, I wouldn't be standing there filming while my puppy jumps and bites at my babies face. Won't be so cute when it's doing it in 12 months time.....

sandgrubber
Looks to me like one more person with opinions about dog breeds mouthing off. I have met two people who had their family Labrador pts due to development of jealousy toward the newest member of the household. This is not to say anything negative about Labbies. Great breed, generally fantastic with kids. BUT, any breed can be a problem with a baby if not introduced properly and supervised carefully. Anyone suggesting that you can get a good dog for an infant by selecting the right breed is an idiot, regardless of how many pink hearts they put around their text. mita
Yes, agree that it's not a bald equation... breed X equals Best/Good for Babies. A great deal has to do with the individual temperament of the dog & its socialisation. Then the training & supervision on top of that. I've known a male p/b Dobe adopted as a baby pup who became a trusted & devoted Nanny Dog to the family's 2 human babies and continued so until they were teenagers. We had a Tibetan Spaniel who was actually attracted to babies. If she heard a baby cry or gurgle or giggle, she was there with it....like she was the mother. She'd been raised for 5 years by her breeder who had grandchildren (from babyhood) on the property. But the Tibetan Spaniel next door doesn't like very small children.... they're too unpredictable for her... and she leaves the scene!
