megan
Alpha rolls are a very "old" way of training and lets face it the only reason that those who did them in the past got away with it is because the dogs were nicer beings then the humans. A dog the was actually "dominate" wouldn't let you do it. When it comes to teaching Bite Inhabition you need to let the puppy know it hurts just as another puppy would. Yelp and stop play immediately. Leave the room -taking the puppy outside could be considered a reward - cuddled on the way or chasing birds etc while outside. remember like with children a time out should be very short. I don't leave for longer than a minute but generally around 10 -20 secs. go back and do a little training or slow paced games. Swapping for a toy is also good but you said that it hadn't been working. "No" should only be used under extreme circumstances I would only use it in life/death situations. Otherwise it has no meaning. Lets face it I'm sure some of you know dogs that think their name is "No"
