Nobivac Dhp 10 Week Finishing Vaccine And Other Vaccination Questions.

Hi everyone,

This vaccine was brought up in another thread here. It was said that it was administered at 10 weeks, after the puppies had received protech C3 at 6 weeks, and that they didn't need a follow-up vaccine except for the usual boosters.

Suleiman was given Protech C3 at 6 weeks by his breeder. I was recommended to give him his next shot at 12 weeks, and while I absolutely have faith in my breeder, I really would like to socialize Sully out of the house as soon as possible (I'd heard it's best to wait 2 weeks after the second vaccine before taking a puppy out). The reason being that he is picking up some of the bad habits of his lovely rescue companion here at home (though good ones too), in particular the nature of his "play" style which is rougher than other dogs and puppies I've encountered (thrashing his head while playing bitey face, and accidentally injuring Sully by doing so). This behaviour later when Sully is fully grown and around 30kg probably won't be tolerated by playmates. I don't want to take him to puppy school or out to other people's homes until he's had and has settled with his second vaccine, I consider the risk too high.

So, my question is, can I have this Nobivac administered instead? Or can C3 be safely administered at 10 weeks, rather than 12 (I have records of his last vaccine at 6 weeks, of course, to be accurate)? Or would it be best to try and discourage the behaviour as much as possible and wait it out until 12 weeks as currently planned?

I realize I'm crazy and a newbie. Sorry about that

The nobivac 10 week would be the one I go for as I like the early finish for socialisation ...I'm on ny mobile so not sure what breed he is but if he is black and tan or from high parvo area I would go traditional vacc schedule and do a third. I would still try and encourage good manners and gentle play with other dogs.

I had the EXACT same questions as you when I first brought home my pup! My breed can be fairly sensitive to vaccines and too many medications etc so I was cautious not to 'overload' her immune system unnecessary. My breeder gave the C3 at 6 weeks and recommended the C3 at 12 weeks (not 10) and then 16 weeks... I was advised not to give the C5 if possible - I had ALOT of vets say they would only give a C5 for the second and third vaccination and not discuss this with me or be flexible. Lots of research to suggest KC is not necessary as it only covers for 2 strains when there is hundreds! Anyway after MUCH MUCH research I found a fantastic vet who gave me options!!! I decided to go with the Nobivac early finish at the age of 12 weeks - you can do from 10-12 weeks and then I think she was right to go out 10 days later...? Normally this vaccine comes with an intranasal KC component but I opted out of that and just had the vaccine - this is the C3 equivalent. She is now not due for booster until 15 months old. I will most likely do tri-annual vaccinations too or titre testing - my vet also believes in this method. My pup has been VERY well socialised since her final vaccination and was taken down to a dog beach the day after she was free to go out in public and met about 20 other dogs of her breed (play date) and I've never had any issues!

Good luck. Not all vets have the Nobivac but I would recommend! thumbsup1.gif
