I even heard myself saying this afternoon "Tempeh, are you listening?" when I was telling them what I was doing this afternoon, just like you would a kid who you weren't sure was paying attention! And last night for the very first time ever in my entire life I told each of my dogs I loved them out loud. It just felt right. I've become an anthromorpiser! (or whatever that word is).

Oh and any tips for a sore foot pad? I think Stuss may have burnt hers a little during her run in the heat yesterday. Very red in one spot but no broken skin or blood. Just watch it? The only exercise she's chosen to do today was roll over on the bed to cool her other side so I'm hoping that will help!

Aloe Vera. :)

ETA - Lots here if you want some.

I'm all for it

Oh, Puppy_Sniffer, please don't get rid of them. That is the best larf I have had for ages. Just remember to let us know next time they decide to hang loose!!

I always tell my dogs where we are going, and what we are doing.

Don't worry Jed, they are not going anywhere! I love them to bits but yesterday they tested us to the max in the heat!

Noisy I've got aloe and put some on tonight. I even told her I was just checking her paw and putting some cream on to make it feel better and she let me! She hates having her feet touched!

I could just be imagining all this of course but this house is awfully serene at present! Tomorrow I'll be up early and take whoever is interested for walkies so we'll see how well we do. If they play up I'll probably be saying to them "Well you asked for this!"

I'm realizing that I talk to my dogs and tell them what I'm / we're doing all the time, but I think it's just because I live alone and have no one else to talk to  Still, sounds like it's a good thing!

Whenever I'm going out I tell them where I'm going and when I'll be back, and often tell them to be good and I love them :o

Sometimes I think my dogs are just regular naughty dogs, don't understand human speech (especially words like "sit", or "NO!" :o )

Other times, I am convinced they understand a lot more than I give them credit for. For example, if Thundercleese is lying on the couch, and I say "Who's my good doggy?" His tail starts thumping crazily. However, if I say in exactly the same tone, "Hey, Thundercleese, who's my ugly doggy?" tail starts thumping when he hears his name, but stops as soon as I say "ugly doggy"

It's not his fault, he's wierd looking, but I love him anyway :)

I tell my dogs every day when I leave for work that I love them and they're beautiful and I'll be home soon :)

Love the story Puppy Sniffer

I always tell Finn what I'm doing and what's happening and chat away to him - and recently in particular there have been some instances where I would swear he has understood. For instance he's very good at not pushing past to try and escape out the door - can't leave it open of course but if we're coming and going he stays well clear, and if I'm heading out he just sits where he is and watches me go. But one day recently I had explained he was coming with me but I just had to pack the car (hadn't got his lead out or used an excited voice or anything), then when I opened the door to take my things to the car he raced out past me, then sat at the car door, tail wagging, waiting to be let in!!

HA HA I do the same, I say Mummy is going to the shops & will be back soon, or this is my dinner, I'm going to the toilet so don't follow me, not that they listen. Bloody dogs.

I always tell my dogs "Be good and eat all intruders, I'll be home later" when I leave... and I talk to them lots... but then I don't live with other humans, so they just get me chatting away all the time... *grin*

T.

My OH always says "Stay, be good, kill." when he leaves
