Jsk
Ok thanks Ellz. We aren't certain that's what it is. I am trying to convince him to take it to the vet. Belly seems to be staying full, and he tries to poo the puppy and only a tiny amount comes out. And when it does poo it's black. The puppy keeps making an odd noise kind of like a deep squeak noise. Any ideas on what else it could be??
goldielover
Has she tried making the pup poo? (Need some cotton balls soaked in warm water and run gently around the anus - can take a while!! I do it while applying gentle pressure to the lower abodmen with my hand also. Had to do it with a pup nearly every litter.
Christina
Vet asap. Pup could be heading for mega colon. That is when it gets completely blocked & can't go at all & a big lump of poo forms inside, too big to come out. Maybe make add extra water to feed & stimulate more with warm cotton wool but only for a day & then it needs to go to the vet. They go down fast at this young age. Alyosha
Black poo can indicate internal bleeding. I would take pup to vet as well. You get precious little time when they're small.
