Dogs Only Vet Practices?

At the end of this year I will be a qualified vet nurse (Cert 4) looking to do ongoing study in surgery and dog behaviour.

I would love to know if there are canine only vet practices. I know there are breed specific like Greyhound ones, Cat specific and equine etc, but was wondering if there are any vets that just do dogs? I plan on getting a job in a mixed practice to start to gain experience but would like to eventually only do dogs.

Does anyone know?

My vet ( wagga) specialises in dogs and actually has some extra initials behind her name for qualifications in canine related areas but she also does cats and horses.I think you would find it hard especially out side of the big cities to find a vet which only worked with one species.

Which one is your clinic Steve? If you don't mind me asking, I hopefully will be getting into vet nursing in a few weeks and my passion is dogs also, all animals are amazing but hey... I am on DOL for a reason :p

Dogs make up the majority of patient numbers in many suburban practices - I think ours is about 70%, the rest cats with a small % of pocket pets. I'm almost finished a Masters but if I get bored after that I will consider doing my Memberships in canine medicine. I spend a lot of time dealing with angry cats (the downside of doing further study in animal behaviour!) but if I limited my practice to dogs only there would be no itty bitty kitties
