OSoSwift
Mine doesn't, however I know when it comes to shall we wait and monitor or shall we , say X-ray, then I say nope X-ray they are insured. Their prices are their prices. I do know if you tell them that you have a maximum price or are not insured etc they will try and still treat the animal as best they can but don't do any extras to try and keep to your budget. They don't want people saying no it cost too much and then euthing, they want to fix them and send them home.
FHRP
No, I have never had a vet apparently charge more due to insurance. I have two dogs insured and two uninsured and see no difference in costs for same or similar treatments. A couple of years ago I had to treat two dogs for the same thing, one insured and one not and the vet did put the medication on the bill of the insured dog instead of the other (they shared one container of tablets), nothing was jacked up price wise though. If someone was claiming that their vet was charging more for an insured pet, especially to the extent your fb friend is, I'd want to see itimised receipts for both animals before coming to any conclusion. "Similar treatment" can have very different costs for very good reasons. I certainly hope there aren't vets charging more just because an animal is insured. Ellis
Not sure of how the conversation went but the vet is allowing the owners pay 20% up front & the rest when the insurance money comes through.
Sabbath
Some industries do charge more on an insurance claim. I'm not surprised one might suspect the same from a vet. Edited January 4, 2013 by Sabbath
