Gertrude139
OMD that first one of Koda in the blankies... that face... *melt* What was that Koda? You want my life savings... OK then tlc you have to post some pics! I am going through withdrawal of your gang! I 'liked' a couple of your photos on your FB page from my OH's account cos I felt like I was missing them so I went and searched them out :D hopefully that doesn't sound too creepy Bronson and his towels is very cute Yes loving the bokeh, can you tell much :p On our walkies today OH wanted a break so we sat down and I took the opportunity to get some quick shots of them. I said to my Mum who was with us I just love this camera and lens, it makes we look good no matter what I do  I think however that when I backlight like in these shots I really need to bring the flash as they aren't getting enough light on their faces, it just adds more weight to take on a 6km walk though If you had seen how dim the location I was shooting in was you wouldn't believe those shots could have come from it. It is incredible how much light the lens lets in. Also I would value your advice, do you think they are over exposed? The camera and Lightroom always say they are overexposed but I like them like this. Perhaps if I have the flash to light their faces in the future then the background can afford to be a little darker? I don't really know, still experimenting... considering I had never picked up a camera before the start of this year I'm definitely still a bit of a noob Edited June 16, 2013 by Gertrude139
hankdog
Because Jake has great butt whorls!! I just love Cookie and the focus in those pictures is marvelous. Looking forward to seeing Koda growing up.
tlc
Gorgeous of Koda! Loving Jakeys butt swirls! think he is saying to you, " hey you looking at my butt! Curious did you find my Hollyview page or just my regular page on facey, I don't mind at all. Will post my shots tomorrow but don't get excited they are nothing to write home about. Look really I'm no expert, I'm a bit like you, I like what I like and sometimes they are not perfectly exposed but I don't mind. but the ones you have just posted look fine. I know what you mean about the camera, the 6D is the same, the dynamic range and low light capabilities are just amazing. Are you shooting In raw? (Sorry if you have already mentioned this) if you think you have too many shadows you can pull them out in post if your using Lightroom or PS. I am only just new to flash and am yet to try it outside for fill light. But you might be right, if you used it on say -1 or -2 it would be enough to give their faces a bit of a pop without losing the detail in the back ground. Ha says me who hasn't tried the flash outside (except on macro shots) so feel free to ignore me if you want to! Which flash do you have and also your doing fantastically for someone who has only been shooting for half a year!

Which flash do you have and also your doing fantastically for someone who has only been shooting for half a year! Hollyview page, I think you posted a link to it a while back :) Stalking your personal page would definitely be in the creepy category I do shoot in raw and use mostly lightroom, soemtimes PS if I need to actually edit something out of the photo but I'm not very good with either of them so I tend not to change too much as I don't really know how to 'get the best' out of the photo. I have a canon speedlite 580ex flash. OH gave me a crash course on the basic settings on it last night, seems very complicated to me but I think like you said I will start with it on -2 or so with the diffuser and little reflector thingy on and hopefully it won't be too bright. I'll just have a go and see how it turns out, just thought you might use a flash and be able to give me some tips was all :) hankdog lovely shot of Jake, I too love those butt swirl things on bull breeds. tlc
I am slowly getting the hang of the flash but just using it on auto (ettl) Is your OH a photographer? I really want to try the flash out and about, just haven't had a chance and the weather has been pretty ordinary here. So here is a few of my random phone shots from the last couple of weeks. Minus one in this shot but it was so cute, I had to include it! Begging for dinner. Ah don't you love winter! Not all looking but this was the after shot, all bathed and jammied up!
corie
tlc, which doggy is the white one? Pulls focus so much  I haven't even started fiddling around with flash yet, I figured I should muddle my way through exposure first Butt whorls, haha. Jake looks like he prefers a different angle! Cookie and Oreo <3 One day I shall own all the dog breeds on my list. How much exercise do you give them Gertrude? Do you go anywhere to let the fosters off leash? I'll line up with the others and coo at that first picture of Koda. What a cheeky face I think I'm a week behind with mine! We've had about a total of 30 minutes of actual sunshine for the past couple of days though. Love Melbourne winter. *goes to snap*
Gertrude139
My OH has done a fair bit of photography in the past, some paid work, won a few competitions but not much lately. He is, I would say an enthusiast, but he doesn't do much of any hobbies anymore which is why I wanted to buy such a good camera to hopefully reignite his love of photography too. I think it's working he has spoken to an old colleague who is very into photography about going out for a day to take some shots together, and his uncle is a member of the local photography club and I heard him looking into it the other day (apparently it is very 'clicky' though so may not end up joining). He is a graphic designer and he still does some photography for work every now and then but it is boring product photography stuff so usually he has his minnions do it :) A love the begging for dinner photo too, very cute indeed. I also like the jammies photo, must take you a while to bath them all! Corie, Cookie and Oreo don't *need* heaps of exercise but they absolutely love walkies so they get lots of them :). In the morning on weekdays they get about 30-45min depending on the day, then on weekends they get bigger walks. This weekend we took all 4 for just over 6km's on Sunday and I think they had maybe a slightly shorter walk on the Saturday. My two can go for wayyyy longer, 6kms doesn't tire them in the slightest and they get between 6-10km daily but we have to be careful with Oreo as she has a deformed paw and it can cause her to limp sometimes. I think the winter is affecting her paw more so we have put her on catrophen injections so hopefully they will help with the stiffness in the mornings. We don't take them to any off lead parks for a few reasons, mainly because Cookie is still quite afraid of people (although she has progressed soooo far in that area already), it would have to be gated so they wouldn't run away and also their doggie interaction skills aren't the best. They are very doggie social/friendly but their manerisms are a bit wierd, like Cookie likes to great other dogs by likcing them on the face which most dogs don't appreciate, and Oreo will be overtly dominant to begin with to test the other dogs dominance, she will happily submit but the way she walks up to other dogs for the first time could cause an issue depending on the other dog (she has taught Athena bad habbits ). Sometimes they come out to the kennels where the dogs without foster carers are boarded and we give them a run around in the paddocks there as that is a safe environment for them, and they can meet other dogs which we already now the temperament of. tlc
Corie, the white dog is Tully, she is such a beautiful girl, great nature, they all have wonderful natures I am very lucky! Bath time is not to bad, if we go to the dog wash I can do them all in about 15 mins. We went to pat stock last week and it too me an hour, swapping out the water from the bottom tank was a bit time consuming. I generally do them at home if they need a good and proper wash, I can take my time then, lucky they all love the bath except Cooper who likes to be in and out as asap. Well your G139 I hope your Hubby gets back into it. I had a real lull for a while a year of so ago, just completely lost my mojo for a few reasons but I am back enjoying it now more than ever! Speaking of Baths just thought i'd add this one, its a little bit cute!
corie
Only a little cute, hey :D I'm really liking the pink and purple (blue?) of those towels too. Makes sense, I also read that many huskies don't have the best recall at the best of times. I have a neighbour with a 3 year old husky, a dog her daughter got her, and she doesn't walk him *at all*. I used to give him hour long walks, but he's quite the dominant dog (towards other dogs, not people), and when my dog came along (with his own dog issues, so not possible to walk them together at this time) I've had to stop offering her my time. He's the sweetest husky, he seems to know his basic training but is just too bursting with energy to hold still enough to register any of it. I really don't know what to do Edited June 17, 2013 by corie
Gertrude139
Speaking of Baths just thought i'd add this one, its a little bit cute! This is the one I saw on your FB page, it's my fave of the ones I saw on there. Although I admit I thought it was Cooper for a bit, before I saw it was Bronson :) oops! I really don't know what to do That was really nice of you to walk them. Yes they do need a lot of exercise, training and socialising. My two are very active and they are still quite young, 15 months and approx 4 years. Cookie is a Samoyed and Oreo a Samoyed x husky, they don't need as much exercise as pretty much every other husky I know, also Oreo is approx 8 so a bit calmer than young ones, but they still need regular walks. They had no stamina at the beginning but they have built it up very quickly. Also being more comfortable with new places and surrounding means they don't waste so much of their energy on stressing anymore. tlc
Its always the unplanned shoots that you get the best pics from. I hadn't really used the 50mm on the 6D so thought I'd have a play! A few people thought this was Cooper, but in reality Cooper does hard done by much better than Bronson

tlc
Thanks Guys, I wish it was always sunshine and beach, so do the dogs! We do wind down a bit over winter, not out and about as much, my guys are getting older now so don't mind chilling around the house on wet and awful days, mind you if I took them out in horrible weather they would be in their element, the more dirt the better!
