disintegratus
Eww. And algae and mosquito larvae. Mine ted to wash their feet in their water on hot days too - so it gets changed multiple times a day. :D Same here. We have several lots of drinking water for them (some are designed to be harder to stuff dirty paws into) and in summer, it gets changed (emptied completely and refilled, not just topped up) at least twice a day and the buckets/bowls given a scrub out at the end of the day to keep algae out- I wouldn't expect them to drink out of anything I wouldn't drink out of myself. Suggesting that water just be topped up seems not just unhygenic but potentially very dangerous for the dog's health. Considering some of the stuff I've seen mine eat, I wouldn't be too concerned about a dirty water bowl! That said, ours get emptied and washed out at least once a day, more often if it's hot and the water starts to warm up. They also have several different containers to choose from, so they always drink out of the manky wading pool that they've been playing and splashing in with their filthy paws! :)
MadWoofter
I tried both dog rocks and ACV. I had problems getting the ratio right with ACV, but the dog rocks worked brilliantly with my desexed female, and I did'nt have to think about rocks vs water quantities :) I don't ever let my dogs water bowls go 'dry' so topping them up is not an issue. Mind you they drink so much that there is very little chance that they'll get algae or mosquite larvae in them. Saying that, I do wash them once a week. I can't believe anyone would willingly use Dog Rocks as per the manufacturers instructions*. That's just.. disgusting. *Of course, if you don't use them per instructions and they don't work, you're SOL if you want a refund. Funny, that.
