It always gladdens my heart when a baddie lashes out at a Police Dog then gets bitten

A MAN and woman who allegedly went on a crime spree around Ipswich on Christmas night have been caught and charged.

The pair were first heard in the driveway of a Schultzs Road property in Ironbark.

Instead of reindeer hoofs on his roof, a 47-year-old Pine Mountain man at the home heard the sound of breaking glass in the property’s driveway about 7.50pm and, going to investigate, found the pair had smashed the window of a car sitting in the driveway.

The pair hit the man in hit in the head, who suffered a severe cut to his head and was treated at the Ipswich General Hospital.

The pair then fled the property without stealing anything but was again seen on Schultzs Road.

There, the pair allegedly flagged down a passing motorist and smashed the car’s window.

They tried to steal property from the 21-year-old Brookfield man driving the car but were unsuccessful and were forced to flee empty-handed in their vehicle.

The 21-year-old man was not hurt.

Police later spotted the pair driving along Walloon-Rosewood Road but lost them when the driver drove into bushland.

The car was then found abandoned in John Street in Rosewood and police called in the dog squad.

The man and woman were found hiding separately around John Street.

The 37-year-old Parramatta Park man hit out at the police dog and was bitten while being arrested.

He and a 21-year-old Brisbane woman both received treatment at Ipswich General Hospital for what are believed to be minor injuries.

The pair has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Well done, police & dog.

When will the crims learn that you don't attack a police dog?

I loved the police dog recently that a bloke bit as they were loading him into the paddy wagon. The idiocy, biting a police dog (I think his name was Dexter). Of course, the dog bit him back. But, as a police officer remarked, 'Being a dog, Dexter did a better job.' Bloke treated at hospital. And the police added a charge of animal cruelty to whatever offence he'd been arrested on.

I "think" it actually becomes a charge of Assault police, as the dogs are regarded as members of the police force.
