SLF
ok, so after our very rocky start of losing weight (2.3kgs in the first 2 wks) my girl is now sporting a pregnant looking belly and eating happily :) on our last weigh in she had gained 2kgs in 6days...I thought that was ALOT. However the vet didnt seem too fussed and when he broke it down to btw 500gm-1kg of weight gain per pup, I started to think WOW if there are 8 pups in there like we think there might be thats a huge weight gain. So Im curious to know how much did your girls put on while in pup and how many pups did they have ?
Pockets
Ava (GSD) usually hovers around the 27-28kg mark...at fill weight in whelp, she was around the 38-39kg mark...she was carrying 8 puppies....she ate very little during her pregnancy, so none of it was fat! piper
Jazz gained around 3kg with her 2 pups however she was very lean when mated and needed a bit extra on her anyway. When she had her litter of 9 last year she gained about 9kg.

becks
I've never weighed a bitch near her time to whelp, don't want to take them to the vets just to use their scales and the weight doesn't really matter at that point.
SLF
becks - I was having to weigh my bitch initially bc she had dramatic weight loss at the beginning of the pregnancy. Since then we have been weighing her as she has had a very limited appetite and we are just keeping an eye on her as she is quite leen apart from the puppy belly. She had another weigh in at day 55 and was 21.5kgs. Another weight gain of 1.5kg in 9days :)
becks
Yes, I can understand you doing that, although I just go by how they feel when assessing 'weight' instead of what the scales say.
piper
I only weighed Jazz as I had to have her checked before her first litter due to a stricture that was a potential cause for concern and then this litter we did an x-ray to confirm numbers and size so weighed her then. I wouldn't bother taking her to weigh if I didn't have to have her at the vets for a genuine reason.
