SeeGee
Hi all, I have 2 beagles, Charlie and Mia. Overnight, we have had some vomiting on the couch. I don't know which one was sick. Both dogs seem to be bright and in good spirits at this point. The vomit really had nothing of substance - though it was a little yellow - which brings me to concerns surrounding pancreatitis. However dinner was only oats and sardines (in spring water NO OIL!). To vet or not to vet - that is the question.... As they both seem energetic and happy, gums are fine ...I'm leaning towards just monitoring them...
Tara8430
Sounds like whichever dog it was only brought up bile, which would suggest it was empty and hungry. My girl does that if she didnt have enough dinner.
persephone
I agree with tara .. I have had dogs do this regularly in the early morning hours .. but a small snack at bed time solved it :)
minimax
I wouldn't worry if they are both fine this morning, esepcially if there was nothing in the puke. Watch them today and see if it happens again, but otherwise I'd be not worrying at all.
Dame Aussie
Yeah just sounds like a "hungry chuck" as we call it in our household  I would just keep an eye on them but if they seem happy and bright I wouldn't worry too much :)
Pretty Miss Emma
Hamish does this every so often! And then he always bounces off and starts playing! Unless it was happening regularly I wouldn't be too worried!
Dame Aussie
We also have the occasional 3am bone spew. Dogs are such efficient creatures..."Ooh this doesn't sit well in my tummy......there we go, all good"

SeeGee
Thanks everyone! Didn't think about the "I'm hungry" vomit! Charlie used to do it when he was little. A later feed time fixed this. Ill watch them and see how it goes! I really appreciate all the responses! :)
persephone
Mitch always used to get rid of bits of cartilage in the wee small hours .....usually after he'd stolen someone's bones :)
Dame Aussie
Yes! Always 3am! What is with that? I get woken up by that oh so familiar sound and yep, there it is, that bit of cartilage

(that's the scientific explanation :p :p )

(that's the scientific explanation :p :p ) 3am seems to be the universal dog puke time - they have an internal clock that goes "must wake human to let them know that little bit of stuff inside just isn't sitting well". Unfortunatly I have the self cleaning model of pugs, so I have to get up reallllly quickly. I figure if it came out, putting it straight back in there can't be helpful!
