tlc
Fantastic shots, I was hoping someone would post some. The problem I had was I just couldn't get the camera to focus on the bit that has the eye in it, I don't even know what it is called. It was late and the light was aweful but even with the flash on some shots there wasn't one I liked! I'll post some later and you can see what I mean. CrazyCresties
Love the log one Kirislin :D tlc - I've added my setting to the pics above in case it's any help :) Their eye stalks tend to wave about a bit, so quite a few were thrown out to get these ones
tlc
Thanks for adding the exif, I think I had mine on to slow a shutter at 1/60 I have been using full manual lately and I'm making myself do it and I am learning heaps. here is some of the ones I took, there pretty bad but the best of what I took. CrazyCresties
Not too bad tlc :) looks like a bit more natural light would help - the trick is also getting the dof right as you want the 'eye' in focus, but also some of the shell - they're awkward little buggers  I like the 5th one down a lot :D
tlc
I am yet to find a lady bug! CC, I think the trouble was as I was so close the eye (tentacle things) were on a different focal plane to the rest of the snail so had difficulty getting both in focus, when I used a smaller aperture to get more in focus I think there just wasn't enough light to cope with it. I will have to have another go with better light, I have never seen so many snails in our yard after yesterday rain, but just left my run to late to get some better shots.
