Guest Ams
I've noticed Askari has been NQR (not quite right) for a while and took her in for some tests. At this point it is highly likely the diagnosis is Insulinoma as it fits her symptoms. Has anyone else had experience with this and if so what options did you take ie surgical/medical or both? DeltaCharlie
I heard of a dog just the other day who has just been diagnosed. She was going in for surgery yesterday (?) to remove what they could and consider options once they saw what they were dealing with.
julesluvscavs
I haven't had it with a dog, but I have had a benign tumour removed from my pancreas many years ago. They almost had to remove it all (as they were thinking initially it might turn cancerous). If they had off, I would have had to go onto insulin straightaway Years later I am ok and now am on insulin. It was a huge operation for me as a person, and took ages to recover from. I'm not sure what is involved with a dog having to go through it tho. I guess my reply isn't really of any help just wanted to say I can kind of relate to it .. Rappie
I have treated several cases medically - I'm only just home from work, but feel free to PM me if you like.
Guest Ams
Thank you Rappie. Done. My biggest concern is treating it medically I am not able to give her 4 -6 small meals a day to keep her insulin levels stable as I work too far from home and am gone 10 - 12 hours a day, JC it does actually put it in perspective as I am worried about what she will go through if I take the surgical option. I know the pancreas is not particularly forgiving about being messed with so she will more than likely end up with pancreatitis post surgery. XYZ thank you for the pm. The information is helpful.
