pointergal
Hi all, I came down to sydney to see a friend for week and on Friday night we went to see Legally Blonde at the star casino. I knew it had a chihuahua in it from the flyers but thought it might be a stuffy in a bag you know? I could not BELIEVE IT when a tiny little chihuahua ran on stage and had a barking dialgue with an actress! LOL honestly it was so cute and not at all worried about being on stage in front of thousands of people. There was also a bulldog of all things in it which was even funnier than the chihuahua. I must go do a search and find out who the trainer is. If you are in Sydney GO SEE IT! I have not seen the movie (not my thing) and expected this to be pretty sickly to be honest, but I LOVED IT - especially the dogs!!! PG
Teebs
I remember seeing Oliver years ago and a Bull Terrier walked on the stage. Typical bully did nothing it was told to do and at the end the actor had to pick it up to walk around the stage. Was the funniest thing i have ever seen, such a Bully  At the end the Bully came out and everyone stood up and clapped for him, got a bigger reception than any of the actors! espinay2
The role of Bruiser is played by two dogs - Sparrow and Quinn. (my BIL is the official photographer so I get to see lots of photos of the cuties :) )
Simply Grand
How cute! I'd love go see it. I can't remember if I posted it or not but I saw an ad in the paper a couple of months ago for "pawditions" for doggy roles in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang the stage show. They only wanted muttleys, as they were meant to be street dogs. If I had been closer I might have taken Saxon along for a try out, he's quite happy being centre of attention
mel_
I loved the bulldog! I went to one of the previews and when Bruiser first came on he got distracted and ran in another direction to sniff something haha. Annie the musical also had two cute dogs rotating for Sandy, I remember one got "fired" cos he got stage fright, poor thing!

Jigsaw
I think it's a chihuahua cross that has the part for Chitty.
Rozzie
It wasn't a Chi (or x) in the movie. It was a scruffy mutt.

pointergal
Well the chihuahua(s) have certainly got used to the stage, they didn not put a foot..... ur paw wrong on friday. At the end of the show when the actors all bow the bulldog ran across the stage like greese lightening and the chi ran from the side of the stage around Lucy Durak who plays Elle and bowed at her side. i think he got a bigger cheer than any of the human actors! I just went on the website for the show and there are some blogs by some of the cast - I want a Bruiser Blog!!! Seriously, i would love to know how it all works getting a dog like that to perform night after night! I have trouble with mine sitting for their dinner each night they are so excited! LOL  What do the dogs do in Chitty CHitty Bang Bang? I haven't seen that movie in a long time.

espinay2
Welllll, my Sis is one of the promoters for the show. Just asked her about a blog and this is what she wrote... " Ahhhh.....welll....you can tell them we are launching one next week! Bruiser and Rufus will have their own Facebook pages soon and our amazing dog trainer, Peta CLarke is busy writing a blog to be launched on the Legally Blonde website asap" So stay tuned folks!! JackieW
I think Peta used to train birds at Taronga at one time. She was president of the APDT last year. My dogs went nuts when I played that video just now :) .

zeebie
My little dog played 'ToTo" in wizard of OZ and just like child actors they had several dogs lined up for all the performances and they each had their particular shows to do and if one was having an off day they had the stand in ready to go on, it was so funny  We had to go in for original audition then got a call back, then another and finally had to go to the first full rehersal and see how he and several other dogs went with all the "lights, camera, action type hype, many of the dogs got their exit right there and then. We were very lucky and he did very very well although I was over it all by time season finished. We also did an audition for another individual solo musical but I think the casting people wanted 'big dogs' and not to be seen to discriminate the request was just made for suitable dogs to come along for audition. One of the dogs that got the role was a rehomed greyhound
