Mashlee08
Title says it all really, I was at the park with indie, it was late not many dogs around, this beautiful GSD bitch came running up to us, had no recall whatsoever wasn't listening to the owners at all. Then I noticed she was in season, off lead, with no control whatsoever. Ok. Then an unfixed mutt came running around the corner and needlessto say that was a close one!! I asked when they planned on getting her fixed and they said "oh after she has had a litter of puppies" I say" are you going to hip score her, etc etc" Their answer was "pfft no probably not"Well rather then trying to argue with stupid I asked what kennels they got her from as they said Said she was working line with papers blah blah blah, and I must say she was very good looking, great movement beautiful dark coat and all around lovely. Battersea road they said so I thought how many GSD breeders will be down there! Ha little did I know. I didn't know there were so many breeders in canningvale!Well my plan has backfired as I have rung some kennels and none of them say its from one of their litters. So if you are a GSD breeder in WA and reading this, a british older 40-50s couple in warnbro WA are planning on breeding the bitch called Sky they got from you. Ha who thought it was so hard to do good! I will ring around tomorrow anyway but it's getting late here so better stop calling. If you can't tell, I really hate BYBs. Weasels
She's been onlead the few times I've seen her Wonder why they suddenly thought now was a good time to let her offleash Was that the park behind the bowls club?
Mashlee08
Sure was! Ha I was Just about to message if you knew the one I was talking about. Sounds like you do! No idea why they think it was good for her to be off lead this time, cos she wasn't having a bar of coming back to them lol.
Weasels
I've never spoken to them, they've just been pointed out to us by some other GSD-owning friends of ours :) They seem to do the evening park shift whereas the kelps and I do the morning shift so haven't crossed paths much. I do wonder tho how far that muttley boy ran to get to her!
Mashlee08
That's only the second time I have seem them, sad cos she was a real nice lady too. But soon as she said that I was like oh hmmm maybe not. I might just stick to mornings at the park now too. Now that I know it's there :-P we need to have another fetch session there soon. Mashlee08
And he was extremely restrained for an entire male that's for sure! Poor boy got so close lol.
Weasels
Is it weird I almost feel sorry for the boy! It's not uncommon around here tho. She certainly isn't the only nice person in the area who wants a litter out of their dog before desexing. And I've encountered an offleash on-heat bitch on the beach before too. It's just not seen as particularly unacceptable 'out in the world' I'll occasionally ask a few questions about papers or similar but I really don't think it'll change much Edit - definitley up for more fetch :) I'll be down there 7am tomorrow if you're feeling early-birdey :D Edited November 7, 2012 by Weasels
Mashlee08
Yeah, that's why I couldn't be bothered arguing, the world doesn't need more poorly bred GSDs Especially though So I thought I could contact the breeder. I thought it would have been a simple phone call, but oh well. least I tried! The thing is they said they had failed to get litters out of all their other GSD bitches they had had over their years. Sweet! 7 it is! You got work? You know when chasing the sheepies is back on? Edited November 7, 2012 by Mashlee08
Weasels
Yep you tried :) Can be hard to be the lone voice sometimes, since most other people they would be meeting wouldn't see any problem with it. Yeah work, gotta be done by 8 No word on sheepies yet - but on a related note I did recommend a newcomer to the area with a teenage GSD to try herding :) Can't have too many shepherds around :D
Mashlee08
Sucks because I always feel like the lone voice :-( and people think I am just being a bitch or a know it all, I admit I am pretty blunt thought lol, I'll just have to surround my self with better people XD oh man I need to chase dem sheepies! Yay for more doggies, I have made up my mind and think I might try to trial indie next year. We will see how we go!
german_shep_fan
Did she have main register papers? If so i don't think there is much you can do? If she was on limited 14mnths is WAY too young
Mashlee08
Probably not, that's why I just thought I'd ask which kennels and give the breeder a heads up. The ones I did contact were very lovely and thanked me for calling, so at least I didn't feel like a total twat!
becks
Just because she is 14 months, doesn't mean they are going to breed from her now - better maybe to have directed them back to their breeder for guidance on picking a stud dog and maybe into breeders name to register that one litter? Mashlee08
They might not be breeding her yet. I will give it a go if I see them again, but I don't think they will be interested as health testing etc went over the top of their heads, basically they just wanted to find another shepherd so they could get puppies from her, they said they just hadn't found one yet. Not to mention other attempts with old dogs had been unsuccessful. Poor dog don't want babies!

Mashlee08
I didn't realize so much until now! The more and more I get out in Australia the more I see. Pretty much every dog I saw at my old dog park in New Zealand had been fixed. And since I have a special love for German shepherds this one got me cross, is I have seen the results of poor breeding all to often :-(
Rebanne
Poor dog don't want babies! what a silly thing to say. Bitches are just as driven as dogs to mate and make sure it's their genes passed on. Poor girl sounds like she shouldn't have babies.

Poor girl sounds like she shouldn't have babies. In that respect yes, but I was talking about the way humans see it. '"Oh my dog needs babies because she would love to be a mum and have a family," or many other reasons like she would make cute puppies! Ya get my drift. I agree with the poster that said you might be better off trying to talk them into finding a working line male to breed her with if you see them again. And hopefully getting them to wait at least another year before breeding her I know GSD club says 18mnths but personally i think that is still too young lol) I can see the flames coming from here, but even if they do mate her, there is nothing to say that the pups won't be healthy dogs and go on to find good homes and be good family companions, working dogs ect. I have seen dogs with top line pedigrees who have suffered very badly with skin conditions, movement issues ect. I just hope they have their heart in the right place and look after dog and pups instead of floundering after the $$
