Blakbelgian
I am not watching the series so I was wondering are they showing any of the housemates Pooper Scooping? Who cleans up after Delilah? BB
Animal House
The housemates took turns to clean up after her, they did show it once or twice, Delilah had a sandbox to go in.
sas
A friend of mine wrote a letter to AWL after one episode in the beginning when some of the boys were handling her inappropriately and she was displaying stress signals. They responded promptly (with what I'm sure was a form letter) saying she had been extensively temp tested and the housemates briefed on dog interaction etc. I don't have channel 10(?) here so I'm not sure if the humans stuck with their instructions or not but it sounds like it from the responses here Tell me what dog wouldn't be in their element in that situation. Many many many dogs, especially shelter dogs that may not have been well socialised as pups! I have one lying on my floor right now who would be hiding in a corner trying to disappear into the wall Edit - AWL also said they had the ability to remove her from the house at any time they considered it to be in the best interests of Delilah, which is somewhat comforting :) I'm not sure why so many people expected the house mates who are average people to be experts on canine body language, handling etc. I'm really sick of hearing about this whole thing. She has been loved and adored and I think she and the house mates handled her transtion into the BB house alot better than how most cope with bringing home a newly adopted dog who doesn't know where to toilet and does inappropriate things. It's really quite insulting to the shelter that she came from to assume they didn't know what they were doing. They had her best interests at heart, would have temp tested her to make sure she could cope. Better than sitting in a kennel especially being a working dog - she was also a champion for rescue and brought great publicity. It's not like they sent an unstable dog into the BB house. Let's look at the positive of what this beautiful dog has done for rescue.

Let's look at the positive of what this beautiful dog has done for rescue. I don't think anyone was expecting the housemates to be good dog handlers - hence the concern. On the face of it, the idea is one that could have gone either way, with the dog either stressed and treated like a toy for the housemates amusement or the way it appears to have gone, as a positive message for rescue. The friend who wrote the letter is a professional dog trainer and was concerned about a specific incident, and was reasonably happy with their response. This was at the very start of the time that Delilah was in the house so hadn't yet become clear how it would go. And the person who wrote the letter had never heard of AWLQ, being from another state, so had no reason to understand they were an ethical and careful rescue - since certainly not all rescues have the reputation that AWLQ appear to have. LizT
The homes that the housemates had to choose from had been extensively screened by AWL. Delilah fitted in very well with the housemates, she really was a happy, well socialised girl, lucky family who got to adopt her. :D My own dog would be quivering in a corner as well if she was in there, way too much going on for her anxiety to handle. Mine too. Thy would have barked at every little noise the camera crew made outside the walls. Not too mention going apeshit on challenges and events like Halloween night with all the screaming and antics. Deliah was just like meh...this is how we roll in the BB house. I was just saying to my daughter they should havea dog to look after when Deliah appeared. :)
sas
Update from her FB Page: Denise and Terry are animal lovers from way back - all there dogs have been rescue dogs. Denise has volunteered 17yrs of her life to animal welfare. They love and respect all animal life so much so the only meat products that come into their home is for their much loved pooches because they understand the importance of a natural healthy diet for dogs. Bossy and Barney are much loved family members who love tearing around their 5 acres with delilah!! She is already settled in so well and has taken a special liking to Denise and follows her everywhere like a shadow! She could not have gone to a more loving family with a mum and dad who have 30 yrs pet owning practice who understand and respect the needs of dogs! And give them lots of love and cuddles

Salukifan
Let's look at the positive of what this beautiful dog has done for rescue. This is where I sit. I was concerned initially but Delilah was clearly not stressed and she seemed to enjoy herself. That she was a rescue dog has been a fabulous advertisement for all rescues. TessiesTracey
Denise the CEO/director of awl who had rehomed the dog prior to the show anyway - great publicity for the awl though on ya :)
TheCheekyMonster
BB at the end of the day is a scripted show to some degree, that is how things remain orderly. The house mates are actually isolated in a hotel for a few months before the show even starts so Im sure they would have been given some "related" reading material or they would have been briefed on handling and basic training, what are the odds that all the people in BB were great dog handlers and knew exactly what to do... I dont think BB could risk it going south. And I loved Delilah thought she was awesome and kept the housemates sane :).

julesluvscavs
The house mates are actually isolated in a hotel for a few months before the show even starts Really? Three months isolated? oh really ? as individuals in the same hotel? or different hotels ? how do you know this ?
TheCheekyMonster
different hotels I think, a friend of ours has a family member who works on the backgrounds of the show, and so the housemates get used to being isolated they kinda prep them for a few months (not exactly sure how many but its more than 1) they wean them off society so the house isnt such a big shock..... it could all be BS as Its just second hand information but it makes sense. Clyde
Yeh, maybe one month but 3 months is a stretch and probably not true.
Guest donatella
I'd say its more like 1 week if that.
Pattycake
Yup they go in lockdown for about a week before the show starts, they also get to take a family member or friend.........but no its not for a couple of months. Glad to hear Delilah is settling in well to her new home.
kiesha09
The housemates go into the house for a week before the show starts with a friend or family member. It is definately not months. I know this because one of this years house mates is a family friend. They do go through some councilling sessions etc. leading up to that but in no way are they weaned off society before the week in isolation. Simply Grand
Oooh keisha, may I ask which housemate you know?? I'd love to see someone I know on there. Closest I've come was a friend of my step brother's, I'd never met him though. So am I correct in understanding that the woman who adopted Delilah is the head of the AWL? Does that mean the housemates didn't actually choose between the four families?
