SkySoaringMagpie
Fortunately it's on the smooth, but he has two splodges of it on his muzzle and another on his front and it's not a good look before a big show. Never had to deal with it before...
bedazzledx2
Go to Bunnings and get the orange goo off...not sure what its called but its a citrus based oil that removes chewing gum, tar, glue...just about anything. Once removed wash with a good quality dog shampoo and condition really well.

SkySoaringMagpie
Peanut Butter!! Rub it in. It will get it off. The scary thing is, you are right. Just tried it, small problem with trying to stop the other dogs licking it before I finished but sap is all gone!
BlackJaq
You're kidding? Peanut Butter? I've been cutting/pulling/scrubbing pine sap off my dog when I could have used Peanut Butter? D'oh!

SkySoaringMagpie
It might not be so good for big gobs of it, but I had smudges on a short coated dog and it worked quickly. I just combed out the residue with a flea comb. I used it on a bigger bit of it on our Afghan's saddle, which needs some work anyway. That took longer, so perhaps something that is purpose made would be necessary to dissolve a big chunk of it. TigerJack
when we were kids peanut butter would get used to remove chewing gum stuck in your hair.
Bjelkier
Peanut butter works great. We use it on the Samoyeds too. Friend of mine told me about it. Very helpful when I have a heap of pine trees at my place.
Clyde
I've not ever heard of the peanut butter trick. Good to know though!
