PuddleDuck
Try febreeze for the smell. My old office had up to 10 dogs there 2 days a week and we used febreeze on every doggie mess, it works wonders :)
minimax
Try something that foams up, that tends to be more effective in removing bits and pieces "stuck" in the carpet. I use vinegar for carpet cleaning, often with a bicarb mix.

persephone
Maybe put Loki on a NO carpet area... and hopefully find out what the problem is? For stains... you definitely need to scrape off stuff from the surface ...I usually then scrub with vinegar ..and pat to remove excess ...
steamboat
Stop feeding tin food first & foremost. To get it off completely, you will first have to let it dry out.

Tin food is empty calories and full of water there is no way I would feed him that especially since he is overweight its health problems waiting to happen
RiverStar-Aura
That was a pretty presumptuous comment regarding tinned food. I can't say for certain but I'd be willing to bet that close to 90% of users on this forum do NOT feed tinned food so it's quite a silly thing to have assumed. No help on the carpet though -- always only ever had outside dogs!

Use a clean damp sponge and work from the outside of the stain inwards. The Dally was also responsible for the red wine stain - bloody lush  Edited October 22, 2012 by The Spotted Devil
