Winterpaws
I think the kid found a dog and took it home to keep it and his parents for some reason or another kept it for a few days and then saw all the media attention and returned it or took it to the pound or something. How do you know that?
Staffyluv
She's home!!!! Can;t wait to hear how this panned out Same WP but I dare say we might not find out as her owners said they just wanted her home and there would be no questions asked about... Glad she is home though.. I couldn't imagine not knowing where my dog was for a week...

How do you know that? I said 'I think'. Very different from 'I know'. That's what I think happened, pure conjecture.

How do you know that? It seems that mixeduppup's conjecture was actually correct. The child was definitely involved in the theft, as were his parents or family. Tralee
But the NSW Deputy Privacy Commissioner, John McAteer, criticised the increased use of social media and CCTV footage by the public to catch alleged criminals. "It's concerning that people would post images of children online without the consent of a responsible adult," he said. "Law enforcement is a matter for law enforcement bodies and members of the public shouldn't be taking matters into their own hands." Social media is being used more often to identify alleged offenders or find people who are missing. Images posted on Facebook of four-year-old Nambucca Heads boy Riley Martin helped find him after he went missing this month. Beggar's belief really. What it shows is that John McAteer doesn't understand the nature of things and thinks an alternative reality can be set up that separates police power from everything else. "Tell him he's dreamin' "

I don't care how many photos of children are posted if posting them helps catch criminals. Too often "a responsible adult" just isn't around. Dogs are considered chattel, so it is theft.. The police should lay charges and prosecute accordingly.. The dogs owners could go after them but it would be a civil matter and honestly, expensive and the outcome would only be damages awarded... Hardly worth the stress IMO... Or the adults use the child/include the child in these kind of crimes, which is really off. I hope that the adults get charged with theft. On the news lastnight the owner said that with the police she went to the house and confronted the people and Buckie was there. I would go to the same lengths and believe if actions like that show the dog being removed, film doesn't lie and the kid and his parents have to answer. OSoSwift
It totallu shits me to tears that people believe they have a right to just take what they want. It is bad enough when it is an inanimate object, but when you are talking peoples beloved pets then it has gone to far. They obviously don't care about the dog or they would not rip it from it's home and stress the dog out. The penalties for such crimes needs to be increased - a lot. Police need to take the theft of peoples animals far more seriously than they do. I would do what it took to get mine back and if that meant showing a young criminal scum in the making then yes I would do that as well. If you have nothing to hide then I don't see the issue. Upstanding young citizen that kid is going to grow up to be. WIth parents like that, he will go down the same scummy path as them. RiverStar-Aura
And that's the perfect example of why I will NEVER leave my dogs tied up outside a store -- except for maybe a fish n chip place where I can see them. Zeus would most likely follow anyone holding his lead and Kirah would probably follow Zeus. Kirah is a little clingy to me personally though so might not go with a stranger but at 6.1 kilos she'd be an easier steal than Buckie. I'm even more reluctant to leave Zeus out, especially after I've had offers from complete strangers to buy him.
BlackJaq
Yes, I have also had offers to buy my dog before. Who does that? I mean, seriously, who would consider walking up to a total stranger and ask them to buy their dog?? I left the person who asked me spluttering when I told them what she cost as a puppy so they obviously knew nothing about the breed and thought she was some mutt? They obviously didn't want her as a pet....
