JaneH
Can I ask the reason for soaking the psyllium husk? Psyllium husk is used because of its ability to absorb a LOT of moisture ..then act as a smooth gel lubricant/bulking agent. Absorbing so much fluid from a dog gut MAY cause problems..as it travels thru and swells . I don't have any studies on this ..but when I first started using it I was advised by the vet to soak it first, then feed the resulting gel .This made sense ..so now that's what I do ..for the dogs and me :) isn't this the same as with dry food? Yes I agree with you on this. I have always mixed water with dry food for every pup that I have owned.
Salukifan
I have to ask... what's so dreadful about allowing your dog to feel hungry? No need to "fill them up" if they're getting enough food for their needs. Ignore the sad eyes and begging, lock up any food that might encourage them to bench surf and let them tough it out. You want anal glands to work - never underestimate the benefit of exercise in that department. But dry baked pumpkin is also good.
Mrs Rusty Bucket
No corn cobs. I found out that the hard way - or she did. My prev pair of sheep skin boots are so thoroughly remodelled - I've had to buy a new pair and make sure she can't get at them when I'm not wearing them. Or even when I am wearing them. But she didn't go as far as swallowing bits. Just defluffing and scattering. Much the same as what she did to the doona I got her to keep her warm in winter. Sigh. Mine trashed them while they were being worn, and the pieces were nowhere to be found, except in the poo a few days later  This weekend we are off to find a new pair that aren't so appetizing!
