poocow
I have ventured into frozen semen twice and it has gone very well both times. Both times the insemination was successfull and the litters produced 12 and 10 puppies. That makes me feel a little better - will have to seriously consider - after all the boy I like is pretty special. A Striker son, very nice :) I have to look at importing semen for my Field - we have a very limited gene pool here.
jr_inoz
There is no "profit" when the money goes back into the dogs as it usually does. Money from puppies becomes turnover and that is very different to profit. Profit is what the tax department wants to know about at the end of the year after you have deducted all expenses. I don't know any reputable breeder that the tax department classes as a business because they make a profit. alpha bet, good luck with the plan but do consider that a lot of frozen semen pregnancies only produce one puppy and often none at all. That is absolutely not true. Frozen semen technology now a days is fantastic and rates of success are very high. Working in the industry for the number of years that I did, whilst there were "some" singleton litters and "some" that didn't result in a pregnancy, the instances of successful implantation far outweighed these. Would it sometimes depends upon the breed too? I am pretty sure that in Australia there has been only one successful frozen semen litter in my breed (with more than one attempt). Roseclipt
Best advice I can give you is to make absolutely certain ALL paperwork is correct, and to have copies of everything. Most companies do the quarantine paperwork correctly, but remember that most do not do your purebred re-registration paperwork. You must have registration certificates for the dog(s) from a country recognised by the ANKC, the certificates of collection for the semen, the signed (by the owner) form for the re-registration of the dog in Australia, and the signed forms for the registration of semen. Also the airbill and the quarantine clearances. Also many FCI countries will not issue an export certificate for semen. I have, in partnership, just brought in 5 collections from Zurich with Sires On Ice, and all went faultlessly. Cheers, Lesley.

Their $2500 package is very similar to what SOI offers from what I can see but SOI is still cheaper.
