biker girl
My 7yr old Gsd girl just gave me a scare, and it is the second time (within a couple of years) that this has happened, with me being there! I'll try and explain..............it's like she is having a mild seizure, her ears are pulled right back, almost tight against her head, she flicks her tongue out quick quickly/repeatably and the most freaky part is her eyes roll back in her head She doesn't fall over, but does stiffen up a little and it lasted about 1 maybe 2 minutes. She is now lying quietly asleep! Any ideas???
Dame Aussie
I don't know, sorry, but I'd be getting a vet check. Hope she is ok.
SchnauzerMax
I'd be getting her to a vet for a checkup. It could be a seizure but one every couple of years probably doesn't require intervention. You should keep records in case it happens again.
cavNrott
This warrants a vet visit. She could have had a petit mal seizure.
biker girl
we have her booked in later this afternoon! cavNrott........a petit mal seizure????
persephone
cavNrott........a petit mal seizure???? petit mal = 'little sickness/bad' grand mal = big sickness/bad 'scuse my poor french. So..a grand mal seizure may involve total loss of bowel control, much muscle spasming , etc .. a petit mal is shorter and with less physical sign /effort I think
Staffyluv
My sisters Stafford has just been diagnosed with epilepsy.. She kept trying to describe it to the vet when someone here suggested she video the incident on her phone so she could show the vet.. She did the last one and he had some tests.. The poor boy is epileptic and needs just one little tablet every day... Maybe video the next episode for the vet... Agree with others a vet visit would be a good idea. Dogsfevr
We boarded a GSD that did this ,it actually injured itself whilst playing ,chasing a ball & hit the wall. We took the dog to our Bowen lady who in this dogs case fixed the issue . The dog also had bad ears which may have added to the issue
