simplyvl
Hi all, Just bought a samoyed recently (8 weeks old) and he has a very dark red tear stain on his eyes and mouth. Is anyone able to recommend a safe treatment for it? Before he purchased him the diet was puppy coat pellets and chicken mince. Now we are feeding him chicken mince, little bit of rice and puppy biscuits. Any would is much appreciated. Thaks.
minimax
As was suggested both other times you asked this, go to a pet shop and buy some tear stain remover.
luvsdogs
My JS has always had tear stains. It started to go away around 5-6 mths but came back worse once he started teething. My vet flushed his tear ducts when desexed at 8 mths & said his tear ducts were very narrow, he was the runt of the litter & is still undersized. The vet suggested I just used plain water to wash his eyes 2-3 times a day. I've tried 2 tear stain removers & they did nothing. From the pic I saw of your pup the tear staining looks very minor so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Also get the vet to check he doesn't have entropian, there the eye lashes grow towards the eye.
