KateAndDuke
Hi all, I currently have my dog on a monthly dose of Comfortis and Sentinel to cover heartworm, intestinal worms, fleas, etc. I notice there is a relatively new product on the market, Panoramis, that covers fleas, heartworm and some intestinal worms (hookworm, roundworm and whipworm). The active ingredients are Spinosad (as per Comfortis) and milbemycin. I have spoken to my vet nurse who noted that it doesn't cover tapeworms although apparently it's been spouted that the product is so effective at controlling fleas that tapeworm shouldn't be a problem, although I'm not sure how effective that is. So does anyone have any comments or recommendations on this product? Of course it would be much nicer to only have to give the dog one tablet per month, and it works out a lot cheaper too. Thoughts? Thanks guys :)
coogie
We have been using it for about five or six months now with no issues, we switched as our dogs have skin problems. They have both been less itchy although Summer will be the real test. The vet still recommended six monthly tapeworm treatment though. It is also cheaper on the internet than at most vets. We are very happy with it.
Pretty Miss Emma
I'm thinking of moving both the dogs on to it. Hamish was given free samples from the vet for his puppy doses and now I need to make a decision if I'm going to continue it, I just like the idea of tablets (usually I use spot-on). Chris the Rebel Wolf
I have mixed feelings about Panaramis. One one hand the flea side of it, if unchanged from Comfortis, should be equally fantastic. However as I work in the pet industry, I hate to see another product out that many people will assume is an allwormer, when it does not do any of the tapeworm species I do believe it is effective enough to help control flea tapeworms, however, these are not the only type of tapeworm... I have this issue with Advocate & Revolution... a customer will pick it up or have it recommended and think they are covered for all worms. I think it will be a good product for controlling what it controls but I wish it covered tapeworms.
