A woman has been arrested twice at the Mildura pound this morning after allegedly breaking in and setting loose dozens of dogs.

Police were first called to the Mildura City Pound about 12.30am and were confronted by about 25 dogs that had been set free from their kennels.

Officers searched the pound and discovered a car with three dogs inside, and arrested a 44-year-old woman hiding in a nearby shed.

The Merbein woman was taken to Mildura Police Station where she was questioned and released while the investigation continued.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the 44-year-old woman was arrested in the pound again and taken to the police station, where she continues to be questioned this morning. No charges have been laid.

Police managed to catch all of the dogs and returned them to their kennels.

Two 8 or 10 yr old girls got into the RSPCA in Bundaberg the other night and let all the dogs and cats out, and those that were reluctant to go were manhandled. CCTV caught them in the act. The video was on the news the other night. All the dogs were recovered, but one cat was still missing at the time of the interview.
