Boronia
well....otter pups :) A couple of good pictures in the link http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-09-17/baby-otters-on-display-at-perth-zoo/4265670 The first otters born at Perth Zoo in almost two decades have made their public debut. A litter of Asian small-clawed otters went on display during a health check by the zoo's veterinary staff, while a second litter is still being housed in the zoo's off-display breeding facility. Environment Minister Bill Marmion says the eight pups were bred as a result of the successful matching of two breeding males and two female otters from zoos in Europe and the United States. He says otter parents Asia and Tuan are doing a great job of raising their pups. "The pups, born on June 19, have just started to venture out of their nest box and explore their exhibit, including testing the waters of their pool," he said. "Asia and Tuan are doing a fantastic job raising the pups, which weighed about 660 grams at their first health check at eight weeks of age. "Typical for a male otter, Tuan has been observed nest building and taking food to the pups and is very watchful over his family. The Asian small-clawed otter is the smallest of the 13 otter species, weighing just 3.5 kilograms when fully grown. They are found in parts of India, southern China, Malaysia and Indonesia where they can be hunted for their fur and meat.

espinay2
LOVE otters :D . I used to look after a group of otters at a zoo. I had to force myself to get on with the job as otherwise I would just stand in there and watch them all day!
