Poppy's mum
What cuts of meat do you feed to dogs? I'm thinking beef, rather than lamb because lamb is too fatty. And raw. In chunks. Mum used to feed her Spaniels "leg meat" but I don't know what that is. Thanks
sheena
If you want to feed your dogs beef, then I can't see what difference it would make as to what cut. We have our own beef, so when my dogs get beef, it is anything from prime scotch fillet, to shin beef, depending on what we have an excess of. I cut it up into 1 inch pieces...if I gave them a whole steak, then they may be tempted to swallow it whole as there is no bone in it. By "leg" meat, your Mum is probably referring to "shin" or gravy beef.
persephone
..perhaps feed ribs ,or oxtails etc ..so the meat comes 'on the bone' ..and has yummy digestible bone/connective tissue with it :)

espinay2
If it comes from a cow (steer, whatever you get the drift), then it is a good cut of beef to feed ;) Otherwise, price and how lean you want it to be for a particular dog would dictate what you feed in any given situation. RiverStar-Aura
My guys have once had porterhouse steak and boy did they enjoy it!! They also rarely get to indulge on a lamb shank too. Depending on what the meat looks like at Woolies in terms of quality, I'll usually get the blade steak, but I've actually just moved onto kangaroo steaks for them as it's less fatty. It just looks awful and makes me just thinking about it!
