espinay2
I thought some folk may be interested in this video. It very well explains how livestock guardian dogs act and how to act around them While this is based on working dogs, it also goes a long way to explaining their behavioural traits as 'pets' too. Clyde
Great clip! If friends want to meet my dogs I always tell them they have to be calm, hands by their side, don't stare at them and don't initiate contact. If they follow all of this then my old girl will usually accept them and sometimes nudge their hand for a pat. People are always fooled by her wagging tail but she really means business! persephone
If friends want to meet my dogs I always tell them they have to be calm, hands by their side, don't stare at them anddon't initiate contact. ours aren't LGD's but that's what we ask people to do with our dogs anyway ... and usually how I 'meet' dogs I don't know . That link may be useful pinned or something ?
eyeopener
We dont take risks if we need to take a person unknown to the dogs into a paddock guarded by them we pen the dogs every single time.
