ChewieTAG
Hi, I hope someone can help me out with choosing the right Mars Coat King number blade. I googled the web and found too many different answer to breed guidelines. Most of the web shows : Shih Tzu #20 product code=50820, 50826 However, I see from ClipperWorld.com.au, it shows: SHIH TZU 12 blade for hair up to 5cm long, 10 blade if longer I read about the Quick Guide below, but I am still lost! Coarse & Medium styles (6 - 12 blades) for prep work and thinning out undercoat Fine styles (16 - 20 blades) for grooming soft, heavy coats Super Fine styles (20 - 26 blades) for finishing and thick, shaggy coats (especially spaniels, setters, etc.) Use coarse styles to comb out the undercoat - fine styles for finishing My shih tzu has medium long coat now (30cm?) and I would want to thin his undercoat. During summer, it would be best if I could also groom his long coat (unless I decided to clip short). I am in between getting the #10 or #20. Can someone enlighten me please about this product or the number I should be getting? Thanks! *attached Snowy's photo*
Stitch
The more prongs there are the more coat it removes. I would be thinking a 12 would be enough however if you want to remove more coat then go for an 18. It just depends on how much hair you want to leave. ellz
I use a #20 on the American Cockers so I'd be going a #10 for undercoat on a pet Shih Tzu.
Dogsfevr
I wouldn't bother if your using a good comb that will do the job. You don't thin the under coat brushing removes the dead coat , Unless your Shih Tzu has a terribly crappy coat a good brush & comb is all you need .most Shih don't have stacks of under coat so its important make sure you won't brush it bold.
