❤LovesPoodles❤
I have a 3 month old Standard Poodle puppy. We went to the vets recently for her vaccinations and the vet recommended adding a calcium supplement to her food each day until she is at least 12 months old. We have just moved here so it's a new vet and I've never been told this before from my other vet so just want to see what others opinions are? persephone
What is she being fed at present?
megan_
Why is he recommending this? If she's on a balanced diet then I've heard that extra calcium can be very detrimental to a large breed dog. IF she's already on a balanced diet then I'd find a new vet... ❤LovesPoodles❤
I also thought I'd read somewhere that extra calcium wasn't good. She is on Advance puppy kibble and chicken wings/necks
Salukifan
No way would I do this. That advice is so out of date its not funny.
Nekhbet
noooooooooooooo no no no unless you're feeding a raw protein source like mince, only add to that. EVen then I use products like Sprinter Gold Whelp n Grow or the Vets All Natural Health Booster Powder
karly101
No way....that's very old info....I would have trouble going back to a vet that made that recommendation.
espinay2
No way! As mentioned this advice is dark ages stuff and now well known to be detrimental.
oakway
I would be looking for a more knowledgeable vet.
