Esky the husky
At Paracombe Community Sports Centre, Paracombe Road, Paracombe (Pretty sure it's in Paracombe  ) Novices are encouraged to come and try out. It's free to give your dog a go at pulling the cart before competition starts. (To see if they'll do it or not) Any breed medium or above can compete. You have to bring along your dogs weight recorded by your vet (should be free to do this) Plenty of friendly people around to help you get the hang of things. Lend harnesses etc Hope to see some folk there

Staffyluv
I think Ziggy would be good at this.. I might have to look up the ACT group and see if they have a day when newbies can come along and give it a go.

blakkjackal
Hey, I would love to go with my dog but I don't drive . Anyone driving up there from the north-western suburbs and wanting to share a ride? Will be paying for petrol :).
Esky the husky
Sorry wrong side of town for me Not sure if there are busses that go to paracombe but maybe you could come and have a look and a chat at how things are run and see if someone can bring you the next time :)
blakkjackal
Thought of that too, but means a ~6km walk after 3 buses according to Google Maps :D. Oh well, maybe next time... Any plans of arranging anything like this in the future?
Esky the husky
Yep, there's weightpull with many of our club members at the adelaide royal. Saturday the 15th of this month :) I'm not entered with Esky, but there should be people around you can speak too if you go to that. Transport is much friendlier to that one :) Or there is another event in Paracombe on the 23rd of this month :D
blakkjackal
Ooh, thank you so much for the info! Will see whether I can attend both! Fantastic :). e: The event on the 15th, are novices allowed to try with their dogs or is it just a competition for more experienced dogs & handlers? Silly me, didn't realise it was a part of the Royal Adelaide show. So the Paracombe event welcomes novices?
