Perpetual Trophy Recommendations Please :)

The Jap Spitz Club of NSW is running it's first speciality show in 6.5 weeks (ack!) and someone has offered to pay for a perpetual trophy in memoriam of an influential dog in the breed. They've also offered to pay for a small trophy that the BIS winner can keep.

Does anyone have any recommendations of trophy suppliers or examples they could share?

I was thinking of either a cup on a base that has small plates that can be engraved, or a big plaque that can have a picture of the influential dog plus BIS In Memoriam blah blah blah and then small plates on the side/underneath.

Any other suggestions?

Many thanks in advance!

Make sure the club is happy to finance the trophy & cover the costs for a long time.

Also make sure the club has it covered who is entitled to win it,whether it can leave the state & how many months in advance they need to be members.

The clubs i am on are fazing them out they are costly & someone always ends up having to chase around for there return, store them .

As for trophy the easiest to maintain, clean & repair

Hey showdog - it's actually the owner of the dog who is going to supply the big perpetual trophy and the small ones - but good idea to check that we can cover the cost of the small trophy over time if they become ill or pass away.

I think the plan is that the perpetual trophy will stay with someone on the comittee and the small one will go home with the winner. But good point on the rules - hadn't thought of that :)

Also keep in mind once you have one someone else often wants to donate more so the club really needs to discuss long & hard what the long term is for trophies .

They can become very expensive to a club especially if funds aren't plentiful.

Also keep in mind dogs co owned who aren't members but one is.

It is really ideal to list what qualifes one to be able to have there name on the trophy ie will you just put names of members or are you going to put the name on irrespective (generally Non members don't get there name on

As mentioned many Clubs are phasing out perpetual trophies .. for many reasons.

If the Club accepts this donation (for BIS as mentioned) then there should be

NO restrictions on whose name etc goes on it ... the winner & owner/s does - it

should not matter whether they are members or not. It would not be a record of

BIS winners if restrictions applied.

I also think it should be retained by the Club... you are always hearing about

trophies that "diappear" or having to always chase people up.

The offer of a small trophy to keep is a lovely idea.

Hi,

Perpetual Trophies are a pain in the bum.......they mostly have to be chased if given out or they end up cluttering up the Secretary's cupboard (this is speaking from experience) give out right win trophies, and ones that are donated are even better...........but keep a photo album with nice 10 x 8 photos as your Club record.......this ten preserves the Club history and a copy of the winner with the trophy can also be sent to the donor
