tlc
It sounds good, Im scared to do it, they say once you upgrade the firmware you can't go back, what if there is bugs? Am i being paranoid. Hope there is a focus fix  No seriously, is it just as easy as downloading the firmware to the CF card and popping it in the camera? Ill have to go and have a read, there is a you tube on how to do it as well.

Kirislin
I've never upgraded my camera, it's still as it was straight out of the box.
kja
20+ RAWs in a burst - that would be cool when you need it, I reckon :) I'd like the file name change, too, since I shoot multiple cameras and can end up with the same file names. Of course, I don't own this camera, so it's all just pie in the sky for me LOL
tlc
So I'm guessing you think it's a good idea to upgrade? Have you done it with any of your cameras? I've got the firmware upgrade on the Mac just have to put it on the camera now.
kja
I would update with this one if I had the 7D :) The updates can fix glitches, make things run even more smoothly and add functions. Some are great, some are just meh but this one looks useful (at least to me).
tlc
Thanks, I am going out with the dogs today to have a proper play, so I think Ill see how I go and maybe do the update tonight and have another play tomorrow and see how it goes. The weather is pretty average here today and very overcast but I am dying to get out and shoot some action.

tlc
Good to know, once you have had a play could you post what you think? Did yu plug camera into computer or do it via cf card?
Juddabug Whippets
Yeah, I've downloaded it to my Mac, but need to go get a cf card reader. I only ever plug my camera straight to the computer but from what I see you can't do this for the upgrade.... Bummer!
tlc
You can definatley do it with the camera plugged in, it gives clear instruction in the pdf that came with the downloaded software. Have you opened the download and had a look at it? There is a pdf that comes with it, it is the instructions or how to install and includes, installing from the cf card and installing directly to the camera with the cord. Juddabug Whippets
I read the PDF, the cf needs to be put in a reader... I got told not to download it onto the camera plugged to your computer!
tlc
ok, fair enough, I need a new card reader, mine is a cheap crappy one and unmounts the cf card mid download, so annoying! I had a look at Harvey Norman today but couldnt see any, I didnt bother asking as they were flat out. On the upside my camera was $300 more than it was when I got mine. Usually its the other way around.
Juddabug Whippets
Lol! Awesome! My OH picked up a cf reader for me today from jb hifi! Might be a few days before I get a chance to upload the camera though!
tlc
Was the reader expensive? I need to get a more reliable one.
kja
You can get them for pretty much any price. I used an $8 one for years - only changed coz Tilly snacked on it :)
