Does your comment mean side effects for human consumption also when referring to tramadol? My dog had no problems with Tramadol but I sure do. It's the only thing I'm allergic to. I've only ever taken one tablet and that resulted in projectile vomiting and diarrhoea. Never again. I didn't show 'space monster' behaviour though. I was busy with the ^ other stuff going on. I guess it's different for each person/animal depending on their 'constitution'. Thanks for the answers. And, MsDani, I hope your boy is doing better today. That stuff's space monster creating Wow that comment scared me - I thought 'OMG have they given him the wrong medication - is he going to bleed again?' I gave him the Tramadol before we went to bed last night and he had the best sleep he's had in days (I've had him in bed with me since he's been home so I can keep a close eye on him) He also ate some diced beef as he wouldn't eat the chicken (I guess he's over the chicken now), he also wouldn't eat it raw so I fried it up (no oil) ju! He was a bit uncomfortable this morning and had a tummy upset, but no blood. I'm back at work today and will be heading home during my lunch break to see how he is. I'm still waiting for the vet to call on when I can take him in so they can do the Ultra Sound. Will update you when I know more. Thank you so much for the support! The original specialist couldn't get there this week, so they got another one. I've been itching since yesterday to find out when he can get the Ultrasound and now that I know, I feel sick. But then again, it better to know than not know. Also doesn't help that this all started right smack bang in the middle of fertility treatment - so the horrormones are full on atm. He's always been terrible (even the vet commented on it) with giving him medicaiton - but since he's been sick he hasn't put up much of fight until tonight! I gave him the carafate (dissolvable tablets and given via syringe) I had to rub his neck to get him to swallow it. Is that the right way to do it - rubbing his neck? Is that the right way to do it - rubbing his neck? yes i know the tablet battles. my dear old girl Lucinda was the most canny of canine patients and it was a constant challenge to get her meds into her.. i would put vinyl gloves on, carefully encase the pill in a ball of her preferred cheese. success! next time she would roll the ball of cheese in her mouth: glare at me as she literally spat the pills out as if she were in a pumpkin seed spitting competition. MsDani Posted August 22, 2012 Author Share Posted August 22, 2012 The Ultrasound was done today - but we now have another problem... 1 - they couldn't find the source of what is causing his pain, so an endoscopy will need to be done. They are still thinking Gastric Ulcer. 2 - They found a little mass on his liver - they seem to think it's benign but they won't know until they do a biopsy. I also just brought him home and he had a bad case of diarrhea and he vomitted. He's now had another drink and I'm just waiting to see if that stays down. He wasn't sedated today. the past couple of days he's had a 'squirty' bum, but only once a day - now he's done another one and vomitted. Las thing he needs is to loose more fluid. He's also had a drink about 1.5 hours ago and has kept that down. *touch wood* I'm actually wondering if it was caused by stress because he spent the whole day at the vets? Last night when I got home from work, I couldn't believe (and neither could DP) how excited he was to see me. He was yapping at the window and then DP opened the door and came running out to me wagging his tail. It was awesome.
