tlc
I just had a look at this Video of a review, it would probably be a good walk around every day lens. Its cheap enough. REVIEW HERE

kja
I have a chance to pick this up for a good price so I might just do it. I really shouldn't be throwing out more cash for more gear but... Edited August 6, 2012 by kja
Kirislin
is it cheaper than this? If so please let me know. I'll be interested to see what you think of it. http://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/canon-ef-40mm-f-2.8-stm-lens.html here's the archive thread from POTN http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1198048&page=3 Edited August 6, 2012 by Kirislin

tlc
Just found THIS about a problem with the AF in this lens, looks like there will be a fix for it though.
tlc
Well I couldn't help myself, I had to order one of these and it came today, talk about shorty 40! It came just before work so I took a few quick snaps then had another play inside after work as it was dark when I got home. cant wait to be able to take it out and have a proper play. This next one is the same photo, the first one is the whole shot and the second one is 100% crop and you can see me in Tully eye. 100% crop

Impatiens
Great shots tlc - very sharp. I just watched the video on the link you posted before, the lens is tiny - especially on the 5D! It looks great though - I hope it sells really well and Nikon decides to make one!
tlc
It does look so cute on the camera, it's tiny, I took a shot of it with my iPhone, I'll post it tomorrow. It's probly something I didn't need but being so cheap and well how could I say no. HERE is a comparison to other Primes.
Kirislin
Damn you tlc !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how much was it all up, including postage? It's supposed to be a good street photography lens cause it's discreet.
tlc
 sorry! It was $189 at DWI, plus I paid the $10 for 1-3 day delivery. So $199 all up. eglobal is cheaper but their postage is expensive making them around the same price. I've read a couple of bad reviews about DWI but this is the second lens I've got from them and all good so far.

I've read a couple of bad reviews about DWI but this is the second lens I've got from them and all good so far. I wondered about that. Now, if someone else in Victoria wanted to buy the same lens, I wonder if 2 of us got together and bought it from eglobal so saved on postage. It would need to be 2 people who see each other occasionally. Meagan, are you reading this?
tlc
Good idea! If you did that it would only be just over $150 each. But do they charge more if you get more than one item or maybe it goes on weight?
tlc
I just had a look at shipping, it's $49 for 1 or $98 for two at eglobal.
piper
Great pics. Wow eglobal are expensive on shipping - sounds like they have a flat rate as I only paid that for my whole camera body.
