Urgent Need For Foster Carers

Recommended Posts

If the Dermcare/Aloveen will be of relief Perry's mum I have some here that I will post to you. I bought it to use on Lucy but we used it once and she doesn't need it/we now go to the groomers for a bath anyway so its sitting on my shelves pretty much full never being used.

For some reason the lady at the pet store was set on selling me this stuff even though Lucy has never suffered allergies or itchy skin so I feel its wasted on her anyway!

Could you please send it to Kerrie Challenger, RMB 6150, Strathallen Road, Bamawm Vic. 3561.

Thank you very much.

Hi...

Have read thru all the descriptions and checked the photos..

Dont be surprised if these are not mixed bred but poorly nourished..

I have a kelpie pup of the same shape & size.. Barely makes 10 kg and stands about 35cm tall.. He also has the rounding through his back that these have.

He was diagnosed with nutritional osteo dystrophy and was not able to process calcium.. Calcium supplements alone would not rectify this.. It needs to be monitored by a vet as causes pain and bone infections.

This is Jake.. Now 12 months old and still tiny.

As you can see he has legs like an iggy and a tiny face.. He was bred on a working property from the old barb style kelpies. His mum and dad are working dogs about 20kg each. He is one of two littermates that survived.. I have had him since 8 weeks old.

He was surrendered by farmer.

Oh and edited to add.. If any are in Canberra I am happy to help with bathing, vetwork, socialising etc.. Have no room for fostering but will help any other way.

OMG those poor babies. :( Those pics had me in tears. That is just so wrong.

For the sarcoptic mange, I would be trying advocate. That was what our vet recommended when those 2 little kelpies I had with sarcoptic mange. It worked a treat and within weeks the hair had grown back and there coats were soft and shiny.

I agree. Those 2 little girls I had were the same and would of been lucky to weigh 10kg each. They were badly malnourished and it stunted their growth.

They have all been taken to the vet and had treatment but some of the dogs are still uncomfortable.

It will take time for the itch to go away. You could try some antihistamine - claratyne or phenergan and pinetarsol wash for the really uncomfortable dogs.

When I treated a very mangy dog I also used to moisturise the irritated skin with sorbolene cream but his skin was awful as the mange had been left untreated a long time.

Polaramine liquid for kids is the best antihistamine.. Can break down dosage for body weight.. Dosage on back shows per kilo.

Foods may also be causing allergies.. Try going natural like a BARF diet.. Has helped Jake immensely.. He doesnt itch/scratch when on BARF..

There is also a stop itch wash that contains betadine.. Helps with any open wounds and soothes the skin..

Benadryl is also a good one, I use it on my multi allergy newfie when she has accidentally had wheat.......
