Collegiate
RE: CHP eye disease Could the Forum members please enlighten me as to the characteristics of this disease ? Breed involved is the Collie. I'm well aware of CEA (Collie Eye Anomaly) but haven't come across "CHP" before. Is it contagious ? Thanks Forum members. dancinbcs
I have never heard of it abbreviated to CHP but assume it must be Choroidal Hypoplasia, the basic form of CEA that they must have genetically, for any form of CEA to affect them. The DNA test is specifically for Choroidal Hypoplasia but dogs with Colobomas and Retinal Detachment also test positive for it. The test can't tell though if the modifying or extra genes for Coloboma or Detached Retina are present.
Collegiate
Yes your probably correct and thanks for your input. Still not sure why you would refer to Collie Eye Anomily by any abbreviation other than CEA. " Keep It Simple Stupid" I think is the principle that comes to mind. InspectorRex
I am with dancinbcs Never heard of chp but Chorodial Hypoplasia- one of the Collie Eye Anomaly Yes. I have seen " CEA/CH" used a lot on dog profiles. Edited July 6, 2012 by InspectorRex
