Clyde
Is there a medical way to temporarily prevent a bitch being able to fall pregnant? Such as a female version of Suprelorin? I have a responsible client who has an entire dog and bitch but is going away for a month and concerned the bitch will come in to season (first time) while they are away. More interested in a way to prevent a bitch falling pregnant without it affecting her growth = permanently desexing. Valid reasons, no desexing lectures please. Thanks in advance
Sandra777
Yes there are a variety of injections. Any competent vet will be able to advise what suits best for the circumstances. The older types often caused problems with conceiving later and/or pyometra after the heat when the injection "wore off" - the newer ones seem better but these are still serious side-effects to be considered. WreckitWhippet
Testoprop is the main one that we use with the Greys, it's the easiest to manage and would be ideal. You can use tables or paste but they are a pain in the rear end
