The girl, believed to be aged two or three, was treated for cuts, abrasions and shock after being attacked by the family dog, an Ambulance Victoria spokesman said. Paramedics were called to the Hillside home just after 1pm (AEST). The girl was taken to the Royal Children's Hospital in a stable condition. *kirty*
News footage showed a Siberian Husky (living in a tiny concrete courtyard) as the culprit.
aussielover
Cuts and abraisons hardly sounds like a full on attack??? I'm assuming they mean emotional shock, rather than the medical definition of shock (which is life threatening). Although I don't know know the full story, dog bite or nip hardly equals a "mauling" or an "attack" as the media like to sensationalise it as. Dame Aussie
Better ban them too now! Hope the kid recovers quickly, though I agree if it had really "attacked" she'd have more than some abrasions, but that wouldn't sell as many papers now would it..... *kirty*
Well perhaps its a good thing that the news has picked up the story. Maybe people will soon realise that BSL has not reduced dog bites at all and that ANY dog of any breed can bite.
melzawelza
Yep, cuts and abrasions on a toddler. That's a dog with pretty good bite inhibition right there. Why does this even make the news?! Toddlers are injured much worse by other things (including their parents!) daily and that doesn't make the news
WExtremeG
Paramedics were called to the Hillside home just after 1pm (AEST). Why were the paramedics called if it were only cuts and abrasions?
bonniek
Saw the news footage of this dog in a paved courtyard, whether it was a husky or malamute, or any other breed, I wonder how much exercise this dog had each day!
megan_
My dogs used to live with a teeny courtyard, but where walked twice a day, did agility, obedience etc. Plenty of happy, well adjusted dogs living with small outdoor areas. I can't see the link between that and an attack? Maybe if we don't want the media to jump to conclusions, we shouldn't either....
