daccydog
Morning Dols I have a problem with my 8 yr male mini daccy , 1 month ago I went away for 12 days and boarded my 2 daccys , Ever since then he has been unbearable whinging & whining when he gets into his crate at bed time ,he will cry for a couple of hours, I try very hard to ignore it but its all too much and end up putting him in my bed where he seems quite happy ,Given he's 8 yrs old and never done anything like this before , I also realise I'm giving in to him putting him in my bed sometimes he will go to sleep and settle then about 1am will start his routine of whining can anyone help with suggestions of what i can do ps He is usually a very well behaved boy, and he's not cold as he's got warm blankets many thanks Daccydog, Edited June 6, 2012 by daccydog
Nadsi
He's probably freaking out that you've left him again; I was gone for one night and this happened with my Brittany (not as extreme as your situation, but there was fussing and whining), but I fixed it by re-introducing a handful of treats or a chew when I put him to bed, like when he was a new puppy. My other dog will fuss if we don't give him a treat no matter the circumstance. He has the radio on low and treats to calm him now, and I haven't had any issues since. daccydog
morning all and thanks Nadsi for your reply. well its amazing when you take a step back and see what youve posted my reason for worrying so much about my boys sleep and mine is that i'm going away again for 12 days (guilt has set in )and again leaving my 2 with a very good dog minder for this time ,I have only ever left them in care once before, Sam has never whinged before or ever had sleep problems they both sleep in crates usually very well , anyway i decided to bring Sam and crate into my bedroom and well wouldnt you knnow it 2 nights of good sleep for the both of us Daccydog
