Another Unwanted Pet Shop Puppy

Recommended Posts

I was alerted to a pet shop puppy in trouble yesterday and have picked him up today.

He is listed as having 3 breeds in him - Chihuahua, Maltese and Japanese Spitz. Poor little man.

He was bought as a present for a child, by the parents. They'd never had a dog before, worked full time, had poor fencing, had no idea basically.

Mum didn't actually like the dog as she didn't choose it ... couldn't come in the house because if it did, it went to the toilet.

It had 10 minutes of cuddling each day, lucky dog. That's all they had time for. The 11 yr old daughter was supposed to have been responsible for everything and of course, it wasn't ever going to work.

PAWS will find him a foster carer and eventually a new home, thank God for Denise!

Here he is - and HIS name is "Bella" - a bit like the man called "Sue" LOL. He's a busy little boy, thankfully I have a huge dog enclosure in the middle of my lounge room which has come in very handy ...

He's had dinner, had a run around and annoyed the oldies - let's hope I can get some sleep tonight, he's also very noisy ...

OMG, some people never cease to amaze me & truley make me very angry. How bloody reckless & thoughtless could one be.

Hopefully this little FELLA finds a caring & loving home & MAYBE a little bit more than 10 mins of the their precious time for a cuddle.

Thanks for coming to the rescue Dogmad.

Shame his previous owners didn't put more thought into it before purchasing and typical of a shop not caring about the welfare of the animals they sell

He will now have a much better chance of finding a home that will give him more than ten minutes attention

Good on you Dogmad and Denise, hope you manage to get some sleep tonight Dogmad

Haha @ dogmad! Welcome to MY world... lol!

I hope the little fella behaved for you last night and Mrs Grumpy hasn't showed up...

The trick to keeping pups quiet at night is to have their night crate in your bedroom - positioned where the little monsters can see you... or have more than one pup so they have company to cuddle up with at bedtime. If you have a solo pup, give them a teddy bear around the same size to snuggle with.

Just like with the older dogs, ignore the little terrors a bit when they first arrive, and let them get used to their new digs - they do it very fast I may add... oh... and couch cuddles is a big part of having a pup around - it helps them settle of an evening.

If you need any other puppy fostering tips, just yell, OK?

Would you like some name suggestions? How about Simon, Chester, Barclay, Linus, Rupert, Samuel, Tristan, Webster, Xavier...

T.

Thanks for the tips T, he wasn't too bad, stopped whinging just after 1.30 I think ... more than I hoped for.

He was good the rest of the night, i always get up at around 7 with the dogs and then have a lie in on a Sunday but don't think we'll be doing that today somehow.

He's off to the vet and a PAWS foster carer today - woo hoo! I'm sure the foster carer will come up with a masculine name.

The kid had wanted a female dog but only males left so she gave him the name she wanted to call a female dog ....
