PossumCorner
Another photo opportunity of note for moon/stars/planets watchers. It's a major event, observing the Transit of Venus is what Captain Cook was doing at this end of the ocean, and after this Wednesday it won't happen again for over 100 years. Main things to remember, if you look at it without eye protection you wreck your optic nerve, if you point a DSLR at it without lens protection you cook the sensor. If you want to take shots it's very do-able but needs a strong filter, something like a welder's visor opacity, for both self and camera. Google finds them. Bit about the Transit on Australian Geographic site - time and place etc. http://www.australiangeographic.com.au/journal/2012-transit-of-venus-best-places-in-australia-to-see-it.htm Nasa will be live-streaming the view of it from their side. Kirislin
I find it amazing that they knew about it and worked out when it was going to happen way back then.
PossumCorner
It was that week that I bruk me leg, so the disc was put aside, just found it. These were so rough, I leaned a welder's visor on a fence post top and lay on the ground and shot up through the teensy visor patch. But this is the Sun. And Venus passing.
