TheCheekyMonster
Gus needs to start putting on weight.... Currently he has 4 cups of Artemis usually, a few days a week he will also get either a chicken frame, turkey wings or 1 egg and 3 spoons of natural yoghurt (with the kibble) and he is still quite on the slim side.. i'd like a little more beef on him, any suggestions? And the food I find best of all to put on weight is porridge.
TheCheekyMonster
Porridge aye! never thought of that one... shall check the purine content, he cant eat lamb its way to high in purine, chicken, turkey are good im sure porridge will be fine, so i mix that in with the kibble? Rebanne
When I use porridge I feed it on it's own but no reason it couldn't be added to dry food.
dotdashdot
Have you considered switching him to a puppy formula for a little while? As long as the main protein source is a "safe" one, it shouldn't be detrimental. Working dog formulas are along the same lines, but puppy is usually more accessible, especially in brands like Artemis etc. Or I've heard of "satin balls" that are good for packing on weight. not sure whats in them, just heard of them mentioned if you want to search it. How's this, I think of myself as "careful" when it comes to feeding my dal, as I know you are TCM, met a couple of dallies at the MPW a few weeks ago...they've never heard of not feeding beef/high purine foods. Makes me wonder... they've been extremely lucky! One had the best name though, a liver dal called "Coco-pops"
TheCheekyMonster
Ow thats an awesome name!! hahah, well to be honest before getting Gus I had never heard of the purines thing either, our two other family dalls were in excellent health and were fed left overs. But Gus is a sensitive kind of guy so I need to be somewhat careful, personally I love his physic at the moment, his tummy is very neatly tucked in but OH things his ribs are visible, i cant see it... but i guess 2-3kg wont hurt him.
