Cleo's Corgwyn
Try looking up 'Dog Zen'. Essentially you close your hand around the treat until the dog learns to take it slowly from your hand. But I'm sure that you can find better explanations than mine!

sheena
Basically, what you do, is hold a treat in your fist. The dog will do everything it its power to get the treat. You wait until the dog stops trying to get it, then you immediately click, open your hand & give the dog the treat WITH YOUR OTHER HAND. Repeat till the dog catches on. Then you extend this to having the treat on the flat palm of your hand, & as soon as the dog goes for it, you close your fist & wait till he backs off, then click & treat with your other hand. After the dog has learnt this trick, then put your dog in a down. Put the treat on the floor, just in front of him, when he goes to get it you quickly cover it with either your hand or your foot. Wait till he minds his manners, then click & either treat him with the treat on the floor or one out of your hand & sometimes you release him to the treat. This is a fun game which the dog will enjoy & it teaches them that patience pays. I assume your dog knows the value of the clicker, if not use a marker word instead, like, "yes". But I prefer to use the clicker as you can mark the exact precise behaviour that you want.
